WHAT IS IT?
IASTM is an instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization also known as blading is a technique used in manipulating the soft tissue. Tissues need to glide to perform normal functions.
IASTM uses specially designed instruments to break up, myofascial restrictions, and scar tissue and help improve the function of injured areas. Scar tissue can affect the way the muscles and tendons work; by breaking up this tissue, therapists help increase flexibility and movement while decreasing pain.
BENEFITS OF USE
Release of fascial restrictions
Stimulate HA, hyaluronic acid
Increased blood flow
Increase in regenerative cellular activity
Improved range of motion
Reduction in tissue viscosity
Interruption of pain receptors
Improved flexibility of underlying tissue
I use only stainless steel medical-grade tools as they have better results. The tools have multiple edges tailored for specific techniques and reach different depths of the fascial layers.
