Hilltop Farm imported Reno not long after the purchase of his sire Riverman. Reno’s type and athleticism destined him for a sport career, but the valuable Caretino blood on his dam side also presented interesting options for US breeders. In 2000, Reno swept all three divisions of the Mid-West International Jumper Futurity Finals and traveled directly from the IJF Finals to the 100-Day Stallion Performance Testing in California. He was Reserve Champion of the 100-Day Test that year and earned the coveted Class I status with an overall score of 133.17 points. Hilltop sold Reno to Brian Sweeney who took him to Grand Prix before selling him to a junior rider. Reno was gelded in 2010.
